Payouts on slots are usually governed by the gaming commision in that State, they have an acceptable minimum… usually around 85 percent.

For those without gaming commisions, (online and Indian casinos) they can put the odds however they want. I was Casino Manage for an Indian Casino, we had some machines as low as 50 percent and the highest was 90.

90 percent payout means you play 100.00, you get on the average about 90.00 back.

    Good luck.

ltes say u have four slots.it also depends on how many pictures in one slot. lets take it there r 2 pictures. so in the first one it will be 1/2 that is a 50% chanse of getting one picture. So in the next slot to get same picture it is again 1/2. so for four slots 1/2*1/2*1/2*1/2.
that is 1/16. something around 6.125%

There are two probabilities that you are looking at. The first is payout. It is how much money that the machine will payout over time. Some machines are rated even to 98 to 99 percent payout. The problem with it is that you are mostly contributing to a big winner. 98% doesn’t mean that you will get $98 back if you put in $100.

The odds of getting a winning combination depends on the number of symbols on the reel. You will have to add up all the symbols including the blanks to get the number symbols on one wheel and winning combination really depends from machine to machine so there is really no fixed formula to calculate it.

  5. Slot Machines Says:

Classic slot machine probabilities were easy to figure. You took the chance of getting a particular symbol on a particular reel and multiplied that by the chances of getting it on the next two reels. Early slot machines would often have 3 reels with 10 symbols each, so the odds of getting a winner with 3 specific symbols was

    1/10 X 1/10 X 1/10 = 1/1000

You could then calculate the odds on each winning possibility and how much it paid out, then add all those together.

But with the launch of video slots, it’s more complicated. The slot machines often have 5 reels, and since the random number generator determines the symbols on a virtual reel, there is literally an unlimited number of combinations. So the payout percentage on these newer slots, powered by random number generators, is basically whatever percentage they decide to program in there.

Gaming commission usually set certain thresholds for what kind of overall payout percentages these casinos have to meet. These amounts can vary pretty widely, and some of the ranges are published each year in the American Casino Guide by Steve Bourie.

Some example games and payout ranges:

    The Addams Family from IGT - 88.0% - 93.5%
    I Dream of Jeannie from IGT - 86.01% - 96.97%
    The Munsters from IGT - 85.0% - 98.0%
The Price is Right from IGT - 85.0% - 98.0%

None of the games listed paid out below 75% on the low end, and the overwhelming majority of the games listed paid out at 85% or more.

Online slot machines pay out similarly to their land-based counterparts, although some theorize that they have higher payout percentages because they can afford to because of their lower overhead. Most of the published audits I’ve seen from Microgaming casinos who included that information on their site showed payout percentages in the 95% or higher range.

The only accurate answer you received was from Slot Machine.
I work for a major slot machine manufacturer, and deal with the math of slot machines on a daily basis.

    I will add 2 comments.
Counting physical reel symbols means nothing. Slot machine math uses something called “weighted mapping.” Each symbol on each reel is given a “weight” (frequency of showing up on the payline.) A cherry, for example, may have a far greater “weight” than a jackpot symbol, even though only 1 cherry and 1 jackpot symbol may physically appear on the reel.

Finally, a slot machine’s overall theoretical payout is calculated over tens of thousands of spins. 3 hours of play is a drop in the bucket, so your individual experience could produce a return far different than the theoretical payback. You could hit a $10,000 jackpot on your first spin with $3 bet (3332% return) or spin 10 times without a single return. (0% payback).
